Mallorca
A couple of weeks ago, I went on holiday with my family to Mallorca, specifically, Cala Bona & Cala Millor. I decided to bring my Leica M6. Here are some photos from the trip!
As a challenge to myself, I decided to bring a smaller amount of film to what I usually take on trips like this. I brought 7 rolls and ended up shooting 3. My challenge was to try not to waste a frame. This made me take more time with each photo I wanted to take rather than taking a photo of absolutely everything and blasting through 3 rolls each day. Doing so also made me come back with more photos that I’m happy with.
Cala Millor and Cala Bona are quite tourist centric and the time we decided to go also meant incredibly busy streets. This is unfortunate because I also wanted to try and incorporate people into my photos more. The photo I’ve attached above is a good example of this. I should have waited longer for a person to walk in frame just past the sign going out of the right side of the frame. Just means I’ll have to book another trip here again!
Onto the next roll! I loaded the camera with an expired roll of Fuji Superia 200. As it was roughly 10 years old I kept my light meter at 100 and shot away. I was blown away when I developed the negatives as I had no idea how this roll was stored in its past life. The colours came out spot on!
I decided to stray away from the busy coast line and head up into the residential parts of Cala Millor. I tend to gravitate towards architecture for my photography and seeing the different architecture in Mallorca compared to back home handed me some great photos!
